When it comes to planning your wedding day, everyone involved can benefit from hiring a professional wedding planner.
What is a wedding planner you may ask?
A wedding planner is someone who makes life easier for the couple getting married, the families involved, and the other vendors. The planner will make sure each element is coordinated and conducted in such a way that the wedding becomes the most unforgettable day for all attendees.
If you are looking at hiring a “day-of” planner, then most likely you have pulled the majority of your wedding together, and have enjoyed doing it, but now its time to hand over the reigns and let the professionals take charge on the day of the wedding; which will leave you and your family stress free and able to enjoy the day knowing that someone else will be handling all of the details.
Don’t be mislead…It’s NEVER just the “day-of”…. We don’t just show up on the day of the wedding.
Those details consist of creating a timeline, confirming vendor commitments and assignments, double-checking all the details, decisions, and services that you have already contracted for as well as running the rehearsal the day before if needed. One of the biggest misconceptions is thinking that a catering manager or a venue coordinator will be your “day-of” planner, however their main concern and job is that the venue and catering is delivered as expected. Whereas a wedding planner takes care of YOU the bride and all the wedding details at all times! We are there to make sure that all of your wants and needs are carried out throughout the entire day.
I recently interviewed Adrienne, one of our most recent “day- of” brides and here is what she had to say on how hiring a wedding planner helped ease her mind and allowed for all parties involved to enjoy the day without feeling stressed…
Name: Adrienne and Dan Gilbert (my maiden name was Butler)
Date: June, 29th 2013
Ceremony and Reception Venue: Hillcrest Country Club
1. How did you find out about Accolade of London, or about Michele Rogers?
Michele spoke at the food tasting for our venue, Hillcrest Country Club. I wasn’t too sure about hiring a wedding planner, but I grabbed her card anyway. After speaking to my fiancé and my parents, I decided to reach out to her.
2. Were you completely satisfied with your service from Michele? If not, what would you have changed?
I hired Michele just for the weekend of the wedding and I was completely satisfied with everything. She was so organized and seemed to work well with all of my other vendors. I don’t think I would have changed anything!
3. What advice would you give to future brides who are considering hiring a Day of Wedding Planner?
I would tell all future brides to hire a wedding planner whether it is for full service or just for the weekend of the wedding. It was one of the best decisions I made concerning my wedding. To not have the added stress of dealing with my vendors, dealing with family, etc. on the big day was huge for me. I was actually at a wedding about a month ago and it was obvious that they did not have a wedding planner. There were awkward moments when it seemed as if no one knew what was going on. A wedding planner would have made sure everything went smoothly!
4. If you could go back would you have hired a full service wedding planner, or were you happy with just having one for the day of?
If I could go back, I would do everything exactly the same. I really enjoyed searching for vendors, meeting with vendors, working on a budget, etc. I tend to handle stress pretty well, so having someone there the weekend of was just what I needed.
5. Reflecting on your wedding day, what was the biggest take a way, or the lesson learned? Or what would you have done differently?
I was very happy with my venue, vendors, food, everything! I just wish I could remember more of the day! Everyone tells you to enjoy the day but it goes by so fast it all becomes a blur. I think if I had to change anything, I would change the social aspect. I felt as if I didn’t get to spend enough time with my bridesmaids getting ready or my guests during the reception. Maybe if I had left the dance floor I could have visited with more people!
Reasons to hire a Day of Wedding Planner:
- You want your day to run flawlessly and not have to worry about anything.
- You know that you don’t want parents, family or friends having to handle the details.
- You know you have made a major investment in your wedding and you want to get the maximum return on that investment (probably the biggest personal budget you’ve ever had to handle)- so hire someone that can deliver your expectations.
Bottom line is that you have nothing to lose but EVERYTHING to gain by hiring a day of wedding planner.
